We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Payroll & Tax Consultant to join our dynamic team. This role involves providing subject matter expertise in Payroll/Tax and acting as a liaison for payroll production support across Finance, Treasury, and business areas. The ideal candidate will also collaborate with external vendors and internal stakeholders to ensure timely payroll and tax production, while driving continuous improvement initiatives. • *Key Responsibilities:** + Work closely with Payroll and Tax consultants on the team to build subject matter expertise in Payroll and taxation/employment regulations. + Assist Finance, Treasury, and business areas with payroll production, including funding approval and GL/Expense feeds. + Offer Payroll/Tax consultation and expertise for internal projects and change orders. + Define and perform SOX test scenarios, audits, manage access and recertification support, and ensure compliance with security controls. + Collaborate with external vendors to ensure accuracy, compliance, and seamless operations. + Handle SSA verification, 1099s, Multi-State payroll business travel compliance, program/processes, expatriate processing, and revised filings for prior years. + Work in an agile manner to adapt to changing business needs and priorities. + Identify and implement enhancements to processes to improve automation, quality, and minimize touchpoints. + Provide training and support to internal teams on payroll and tax-related matters. • *Qualifications:** + Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field. + Operations background with strong knowledge of Workday or HR/Payroll systems. + 1-3 years of experience in payroll operations, payroll audits, or tax consulting. + Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. + Effective communication and interpersonal skills. + Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external vendors. + Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion. + Embodies a continuous improvement and innovative mindset. + Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. + Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. + Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel. + Certification in payroll (e.g., CPP, FPC) is a plus. • *Additional Information:** This role can have a Hybrid or Remote work schedule. Candidates who live near one of our office locations will have the expectation of working in an office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday). Candidates who do not live near an office will have a remote work schedule, with the expectation of coming into an office as business needs arise. • *Compensation** The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition.
