About the Role: Patient Care Associate - Extended Care Unit, Nights We're seeking a skilled and compassionate PCA to join our ECU team on a 24-hour night shift schedule. As a PCA, you'll work closely with our registered nurses and interdisciplinary team to deliver exceptional patient care, promote a safe and therapeutic environment, and support our patients' physical and emotional needs. Key Responsibilities: Demonstrate understanding of comfort and safety measures required for our patient population Perform patient care activities as prescribed by registered nurses, based on established protocols Adhere to standards of care and maintain accurate documentation Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members Participate in quality improvement initiatives and support new techniques and procedures Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients, visitors, and staff Comply with departmental policies, procedures, and objectives Attend meetings, conferences, and seminars as required or directed Demonstrate use of Quality Improvement in daily operations Respect diverse views and approaches, and contribute to creating a professional and respectful environment Essential Qualifications: Certification as a Patient Care Associate (PCA) or equivalent experience High school graduate or equivalent preferred American Heart Association certification for healthcare providers (required upon hire or during orientation) Dr. Armstrong training (required during orientation and annually thereafter) Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with varying physical demands Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in an Extended Care Unit Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work effectively in a team environment Basic Life Support Certification (required within 30 days of hire) Skills and Competencies: Strong patient care skills, with attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work with diverse patient populations and healthcare teams Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with varying physical demands, including lifting, bending, and standing Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills Commitment to upholding our Standards of Respect and promoting a positive and respectful work environment Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits: At UMass Memorial Health, we're committed to supporting the growth and development of our employees.
