Essential Functions and Responsibilities as Assigned :
Ā Obtains required patient demographic and insurance information for McLaren Health, governmental requirements, billing and third-party payer needs.
Ā Provides courteous and efficient services to customers and accurately documents/verifies patient pre-registration information in a professional and timely manner. Collects, documents, scans all required demographic and financial information.
Ā Provides physician and/or diagnostic appointment scheduling.
Ā Maintains knowledge of insurance and authorization requirements. Performs real-time insurance verification and interprets responses. Informs patient of insurance requirements for services provided such as authorizations/pre-certifications and referrals.
Ā Estimates and collects copays, deductibles, and other patient financial obligations.
Ā Handles inbound and outbound calls with the goal of growing business, customer satisfaction, and customer retention, providing ease of access to McLaren Health services.
Ā Maintains professionalism and diplomacy, following specific standards as defined in the department professionalism policy.
Ā Performs all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required:
Ā High school diploma or equivalent
Ā 1-year experience in a customer service role or health care industry.
Preferred:
Ā 2-years previous experience with third party medical insurance, HMO and managed care including experience with CPT and ICD-10 coding and m edical terminology
