Part-Time Virtual School Social Worker in Michigan
Job Title: Remote School Social Worker Location: Remote (Must be licensed in Michigan) Employment Type: Part-Time 1099 Contract Job Summary: We are seeking a compassionate and qualified Remote School Social Worker to provide virtual social-emotional and mental health support services to Kβ12 students across Michigan. The ideal candidate will have experience working in school settings, strong communication skills, and a deep understanding of how to support students' emotional and academic success in a virtual learning environment. Candidates must hold a valid Michigan School Social Worker license. Key Responsibilities: β’ Provide virtual individual and group counseling services to students as outlined in IEPs or behavioral intervention plans. β’ Conduct virtual assessments and evaluations for special education eligibility and re-evaluations. β’ Collaborate with educators, administrators, and families to develop and implement intervention strategies. β’ Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the development of social-emotional goals. β’ Monitor student progress and maintain clear, compliant documentation. β’ Support crisis intervention efforts and referrals to community resources, as needed. β’ Help promote a positive school climate and address barriers to student learning. Required Qualifications: β’ Licensure: β’ Valid School Social Worker License (310 Certification) issued by the Michigan Department of Education (MDE). β’ Education: β’ Masterβs degree in Social Work (MSW) from a CSWE-accredited program. β’ Residency: Must reside in the U.S. and be authorized to work remotely in Michigan. β’ Experience: β’ Minimum of 1β2 years of experience working in Kβ12 school settings. β’ Experience with special education services, IEPs, and behavioral supports preferred. β’ Prior teletherapy or remote work experience is a plus. Skills & Competencies: β’ Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for working with diverse student populations. β’ Strong understanding of child development, trauma-informed care, and behavioral interventions. β’ Ability to work independently in a virtual environment while collaborating with school teams. β’ Proficiency in using virtual platforms (e.g., Zoom, Google Meet) and electronic documentation systems. Technology Requirements: β’ Reliable high-speed internet and private, secure workspace. β’ Computer with webcam and microphone. β’ Familiarity with digital communication and record-keeping platforms.
