Overview
Boutique U.S. IP law firm seeking an experienced trademark and copyright paralegal to manage filings, draft structured opinion letters, and execute workflows with minimal supervision.
This is a high-volume, high-responsibility role. You will be expected to take direction once and execute independently.
This is not a basic assistant role. We are looking for someone who can own workflow and move matters forward without repeated prompting.
Responsibilities
• Conduct USPTO trademark clearance searches
• Identify phonetic equivalents and related goods conflicts
• Draft structured trademark opinion letters using firm framework
• Prepare and file USPTO applications, responses, renewals
• Prepare U.S. Copyright Office applications
• Manage deadline calendar and monitor application status
• Prepare client-ready drafts for attorney review
• Track matter status and proactively flag issues
What Success Looks Like
• Drafts are internally consistent (dates, classes, goods)
• Risk summaries logically match conclusions
• Deadlines are accurate and proactively tracked
• You respond during agreed working hours
• Files move forward without repeated follow-up
Requirements
• 3+ years U.S. trademark experience
• Experience drafting clearance analyses or opinion letters
• Experience with USPTO TEAS filings
• Experience with U.S. Copyright Office filings
• Strong written English
• Highly detail-oriented
10–15 hours per week to start
