Job Summary As a Part-Time Teacher/Tutor at Sylvan Learning, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality educational services to students in a small group setting. You will work with students to develop mastery of skills, build confidence, and inspire a love of learning. Key Responsibilities Deliver high-quality educational services to students in a small group setting (3 or 4:1) Develop and implement personalized learning plans to meet the unique needs of each student Build mastery of skills and confidence in students across a range of subjects, including reading, math, writing, study skills, and ACT/SAT Test Prep Utilize Sylvan's expert personal and prescriptive approach to drive academic success Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues to ensure a supportive and engaging learning environment Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay up-to-date on best practices and industry trends Essential Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Education or related field Current or expired teaching license from any state (required for reading instruction) Passion for teaching and learning, with a strong commitment to making a positive impact in the lives of students Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, parents, and colleagues Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities Availability to work after school at least one day a week and/or Saturday mornings, with additional hours available during the day throughout the school year and in the summer Preferred Qualifications Experience working with students in a tutoring or teaching setting Additional certifications or training in specialized subjects, such as math or science Familiarity with Sylvan's educational approach and methodology Skills and Competencies Strong knowledge of educational principles and best practices Ability to make complex concepts relatable and engaging for students Multitasking and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, parents, and colleagues Flexibility and adaptability, with a willingness to adjust to changing circumstances and priorities Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At Sylvan Learning, we are committed to supporting the ongoing professional development of our instructors.
