Part-Time SEO Content Editor & Publishing Assistant
• *About the Role**
Stepter Law is a plaintiff-side employment law firm in Columbus, Ohio representing workers in discrimination, harassment, retaliation, whistleblower, and wage and hour cases. The Firm is looking for a skilled freelance editor and content assistant to support our blog publishing workflow on an ongoing part-time basis.
Blog content may be drafted by you using AI tools, drafted by you without AI, or drafted in-house by the attorney and passed to you for revision and refinement. Your job is to produce, refine, fact-check, and publish content while preserving the attorney's distinct voice and ensuring legal accuracy.
• *What You Will Do**
- Draft blog posts using AI tools, traditional research, or a combination of both depending on the assignment
- Review and edit attorney-drafted or AI-drafted blog posts for tone, clarity, and voice consistency
- Fact-check legal claims against applicable federal statutes, regulations, and relevant case law
- Add jurisdiction-specific details, local references, and examples where content feels generic
- Optimize meta descriptions, headlines, and calls to action for search intent
- Publish finalized posts to our WordPress website including formatting, tags, and internal links
- Execute keyword research using your own Ahrefs, Semrush, or equivalent SEO tool and compile findings into a simple spreadsheet
- Maintain a content calendar and flag outdated or underperforming posts for refresh
• *What The Firm Is Looking For**
- Background in legal writing, paralegal work, or editing attorney-produced content
- Ability to verify legal citations and claims using reliable legal research resources such as Westlaw, LexisNexis, Google Scholar, Cornell LII, or equivalent — please describe in your application what tools and process you use to check legal accuracy
- Familiarity with SEO fundamentals — keyword intent, meta descriptions, internal linking
- Experience with WordPress publishing
- Strong attention to detail especially around legal accuracy
- Ability to absorb an attorney's existing writing and replicate their voice and tone in new content
- Experience with AI-generated content and ability to identify where it sounds generic or legally imprecise
- Access to your own Ahrefs, Semrush, or comparable SEO keyword research platform
• *Preferred But Not Required**
- Prior work with solo or small law firm websites
- Experience with Frase or similar AI-assisted SEO content tools
