Part-Time Payroll Coordinator

About the position

Weichert Co. is seeking a Part-Time Payroll Coordinator to manage all aspects of payroll processing in a hybrid role based in Morris Plains, NJ. The coordinator will ensure timely and accurate payroll processing while maintaining compliance with legal requirements and addressing employee inquiries. This position requires collaboration with Human Resources and involves various payroll-related tasks, including processing time, finalizing payroll, and preparing reports.

Responsibilities
• Update payroll records by reviewing and approving changes in exemptions, job titles, and department transfers.

• Process time including overtime, PTO, and holiday pay for payroll calculation.
,
• Finalize payroll, mail out live checks, and handle direct deposit rejections.
,
• Prepare monthly, biweekly, and ad hoc reports.
,
• Process and issue manual checks as needed.
,
• Address payroll discrepancies and respond to employee inquiries via phone/email.
,
• Add and/or modify garnishments as necessary.
,
• Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements regarding payroll.
,
• Maintain confidentiality of payroll operations and employee information.
,
• Attend online educational workshops to maintain professional knowledge.
,
• Assist with payroll audits as needed.
,
• File and scan personnel files and collect payroll mail.
,
• Review employee address changes and notify management of state tax changes.

Requirements
• High school diploma required; Associate or Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
,
• Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in payroll processing.
,
• Intermediate level experience using payroll software solutions such as Ulti-pro or ADP.
,
• Experience in implementing a new payroll system is a plus.
,
• Experience in handling tax notices is a plus.
,
• Ability to analyze and report payroll information to authorized personnel.
,
• Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
,
• Proficient in MS Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
,
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves
• Experience in handling tax notices.

• Experience in implementing or being involved in the implementation of a new payroll system.
