About the Role As a Paraprofessional Kindergarten Support Specialist, you will play a crucial role in supporting our teaching staff in improving literacy outcomes and assisting students with special needs. This remote-based position requires a strong foundation in educational principles, behavioral techniques, and emotional support strategies. Your expertise will be instrumental in creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment that caters to the diverse needs of our kindergarten students. Key Responsibilities Assist teaching staff in developing and implementing individualized plans to improve literacy outcomes and support students with special needs. Provide emotional and behavioral support to students, particularly those with handicapping conditions, to ensure their well-being and academic success. Collaborate with teachers to create and implement modifications and accommodations for students with Autism and Emotional Handicap. Develop and maintain a safe and supportive learning environment that promotes social, emotional, and academic growth. Assist with toileting needs and lift 50 pounds as required. Participate in training provided by the district, including Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, visual scheduling, and communication systems. Maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with teachers, parents, and other stakeholders. Essential Qualifications To be considered for this role, you must meet the following essential qualifications: Minimum High School diploma or equivalent. Paraprofessional requirements as per ESSA (48 College Credits or Passing ETS Paraprofessional Assessment). Correct English usage and grammar. Knowledge of educational, behavioral, and emotional principles and techniques. Ability to relate to adults and children of all ages, particularly those with handicapping conditions. Current CPR certification and First Aid training. Preferred Qualifications While not mandatory, the following qualifications are highly desirable: Experience working with students with special needs, particularly those with Autism and Emotional Handicap. Knowledge of visual scheduling and communication systems. Previous experience in a kindergarten or elementary school setting. Ability to work effectively in a remote-based environment.
