Onsite Vendor Managed Inventory Technician

The Opportunity: In this role, you will report to the supervisor of site services and will work closely with the Avantor’s Lab and Production Services professionals to serve our customers by performing customized, mission-based lab work and research protocols that help return time back to science. Hourly Rate: $22.00 - $26.00 Shift: Monday - Friday, 7 am - 3:30 pm Location: Traveling to sites in San Diego County Benefits: • Health and Wellness: Medical, Dental, Vision and Wellness programs (eligible for medical coverage on day 1) • Time Off: Paid Time Off (PTO), Company paid holidays, Choice holidays etc. • Financial Well Being: Spending Accounts: Flexible Spending Account (FSA), Health Savings Accounts (HSA), commuter benefits, 401(k), tuition assistance, employee stock purchase plan discount • Added Protection Coverage: To include critical illness, hospital indemnity, accident, legal, identity theft protection, pet, auto and home insurance • Recognition: Celebrate your peers and earn points to redeem on gifts and products What we’re looking for • Education: High School diploma or GED is required; a 2-year technical degree or related experience is preferred. • Experience: 2+ years equivalent experience in material handling/inventory replenishment or customer service • Collaboration Tool: Microsoft Teams experience preferred • Valid Driver’s License and transportation required to perform job functions • Spill containment training, IATA, DOT, IMDG, and OSHA Right to Know a plus • Cross-referencing and inside sales experience are a plus • Forklift certification is a plus • Conform to all customer requirements for background checks, health and safety issues, security clearances, and medical checkups. • Knowledge of Information Access and System ESS; intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Office with proficiency in Word and Excel • Solid understanding and experience in either shipping, inventory, or purchasing • Excellent Customer Service Skills; displays a professional can-do attitude • High regard for safety, quality, and adherence to protocols, policies, and procedures How you will thrive and create an impact Avantor’s Lab and Production Services team is a crucial part of the Avantor Services group serving over 500 customers in biopharma, pharmaceutical, educational, industrial, and high-tech industries with customizable, flexible solutions and end-to-end laboratory operations support. In this role you will: • Traveling to our customer locations within different cities in the San Diego area. • Facilitates orders for consumable lab inventory replenishment; enters orders into computer systems, Web, etc. • Receives inbound shipments from UPS, FedEx, and other common carriers. • Responsible for handling hazardous materials and preparing shipping documentation and packaging requirements. • Resolves all shipping errors. • Manages customer’s warehouse inventory, including delivery product replenishment (requires driving and cross-training between facilities). • Performs additional inventory management-related functions such as monitoring slow-moving and dead stock, conducting cycle counting and yearly inventories, and reporting, etc. • Shipping coordination activities such as shipping customer material (including hazardous materials), answering customer calls, handling routine issues, operating a hand-jack and push carts, entering relevant shipping information into the customer computer system, and maintaining inspections on safety stations and equipment. Responsible for handling hazardous materials and preparing shipping documentation and packaging requirements. • Interfaces directly with customer POC, responsible for managing consigned, non-consigned, customer-owned owned and 3rd-party inventory onsite at the customer location. • Supports multiple customers in a geographic area. • Utilizes VWR and basic customer computer systems (ESS, Citrix, Info Access, Intranet, StockTracker, ChemSW, and customer-specific ERP systems as well as customer-specific shipping systems) in fulfillment of job duties. • Meets goals and objectives: safety, performance, and quality. • Documents SPI Requests. • Perform other duties as assigned Disclaimer: The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees assigned to this classification.
