Key Responsibilities: Transcription Duties: • Listen to and accurately transcribe laboratory-related audio recordings • Transcribe medical terminology, patient information, and test results • Convert doctor dictations, lab reports, and clinical notes into written format • Ensure all transcriptions follow HIPAA compliance guidelines • Maintain 95%+ accuracy rate on all transcribed documents Documentation & Quality Control: • Proofread and edit transcribed documents for grammar, spelling, and punctuation • Format documents according to company standards • Review and verify medical and laboratory terminology accuracy • Meet strict turnaround deadlines for urgent laboratory reports Administrative Support: • Maintain organized filing system for all transcribed documents • Flag unclear audio for clarification • Communicate with laboratory staff regarding transcription questions • Track and report transcription productivity metrics Required Qualifications: Experience & Education: • High school diploma or equivalent (required) • 1+ years transcription experience (preferred) • Medical transcription certification (preferred but not required) • Familiarity with laboratory and medical terminology Technical Skills: • Typing speed: Minimum 60 WPM • Proficiency with transcription software (Express Scribe or similar) • Microsoft Office Suite (especially Word) • Experience with foot pedal controls (preferred) • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations Essential Skills: • Excellent listening and comprehension abilities • Strong attention to detail and accuracy • Superior grammar, spelling, and punctuation skills • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision • Time management and ability to meet deadlines • Understanding of medical/laboratory confidentiality Equipment Needed: • Reliable computer with high-speed internet • Quality headphones (noise-canceling recommended) • Quiet workspace free from distractions • Transcription foot pedal (may be provided) Work Details: • Location: Remote/Work from Home • Schedule: Flexible hours with deadline requirements • Employment Type: Full-time or Part-time (typically independent contractor) Accurate transcription of laboratory reports and medical information is critical for patient care, legal compliance, and operational efficiency in the healthcare laboratory industry.
