About the position

The Nursing Assistant position at Michigan Medicine involves providing direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse or designated supervisor. The role encompasses a variety of specialized and technical tasks, which may include setting up and monitoring specialized clinical equipment, performing delegated clinical or laboratory procedures, assisting in wound care, and supporting patients with their activities of daily living (ADLs). This position is critical in ensuring that patients receive the necessary care and support during their treatment, contributing to the overall mission of Michigan Medicine to improve health through excellence in education, patient care, community service, research, and technology development. As a Nursing Assistant, you will be expected to work closely with nursing staff and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality care. Your responsibilities will include monitoring patients' conditions, assisting with medical procedures, and ensuring that the clinical environment is safe and conducive to patient recovery. The role requires a compassionate approach to patient care, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with patients and their families. You will also be involved in maintaining accurate patient records and adhering to all safety and health regulations. This position is temporary, and candidates should be prepared for a flexible work schedule that may include varying shifts. Responsibilities
• Provide direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse.

Requirements
• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent is required.

• A minimum of 6 months recent experience in a patient care setting or junior status in an accredited BSN program or second year in an accredited ADN program is required.

• Ability to read and write is required.
,
• Certification as a Nurse Aide or Medical Assistant is desired.
,
• Recent experience in an acute care inpatient setting is preferred.
,
• Basic computer skills are desired.
,
• Time management skills and flexibility in scheduling are necessary.
