About the position The Clinical Informaticist promotes the understanding, integration, and practical application of healthcare information technology to support clinical workflows, operational efficiency, and organizational strategic goals. This role is responsible for driving the optimal, effective use of the electronic health record (EHR) and related clinical technologies to improve patient care, documentation accuracy, and quality outcomes across clinical care settings. The Clinical Informaticist will collaborate with interprofessional care teams, operational leaders, revenue cycle staff, and technical teams to analyze and translate clinical workflow and documentation requirements into efficient EHR solutions. The ideal candidate has a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent clinical background and hands-on experience supporting EHR implementation, optimization, and standardization in ambulatory and/or acute care environments. Location: Prefer the candidate hired resided in our Minnesota market but also open to candidates located in our Wisconsin market. Travel: This position entails a mix of time spent in the field and time spent working from home/administrative days. This role will be in the field at least 1-2 days per week. Travel to clinical sites will be required for orientation, training, workflow observation, and go-live support. Travel to corporate office in Stillwater, MN on occasion for meetings, trainings, and onboarding. Anticipate 40% of the time in this role will be working directly with our clinicians Schedule: Full time position, regular business hours Monday thru Friday. While the role is primarily standard business hours, the nature of system administration and maintenance necessitates occasional work during off-hours, including evenings or weekends, to minimize user disruption during essential system updates, patching, or critical incident response. Salary: $100,000-$130,000 annually. Salary will be commensurate with experience. Responsibilities • Serves as a subject matter expert in EHR workflows, collaborating with clinical, operational, and IT partners to enhance care delivery, documentation, and end-user experience. • Translates clinical workflows into efficient EHR processes that align with operational goals and regulatory requirements. • Utilizes data and analytics to inform process improvement, promote best practices, and drive behavior change related to EHR usage. • Leads and supports EHR optimization initiatives, including workflow redesign, template development, and standardization across care sites. • Provides education, training, and support for EHR enhancements, upgrades, and new functionality. • Acts as a liaison between clinical users, operations, and technical teams to ensure alignment between clinical practice and system design. • Participates in testing, validation, and quality assurance for EHR updates and newly released functionality. • Collaborates with data management and analytics teams to ensure data integrity and appropriate use of clinical information. • Maintains system security and ensures adherence to patient confidentiality standards. • Supports the development of documentation, policies, and procedures related to clinical informatics and EHR use. • Champions the standardization and adoption of best practices across all care settings. • Provides mentorship and guidance to other informatics team members as appropriate. Requirements • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent clinical degree; candidates with significant clinical informatics experience may be considered in place of a BSN. • 3+ years of experience in informatics and/ or EHR build and workflows. • 3+ years of experience in a clinical setting • Experience working directly with providers, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to optimize workflows. • Experience implementing or standardizing clinical workflows and documentation processes in an EHR. • Strong understanding of EHR data capture and its relationship to reporting, analytics, and quality improvement. • Leadership experience (formal or informal) supporting projects, education, or workflow initiatives. • Advanced understanding of clinical workflows in ambulatory and/or acute care settings. • Strong technical aptitude and experience with EHR configuration, testing, and system navigation. • Excellent communication skills and ability to translate clinical needs into technical requirements. • Demonstrated leadership through influence and effective change management. • Strong organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives. • Skilled in facilitation, presentation, and adult learning techniques. • Collaborative, resourceful, and creative problem solver with a focus on practical solutions. • Demonstrated alignment with the organization’s purpose, core focus, and values. • Demonstrated ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language. Nice-to-haves • Master’s degree in Nursing Informatics, Health Informatics, or related field • EHR certification (e.g., Aprima, Epic, Athena, Cerner, or similar). EPIC or Athena experience highly preferred. • Prior experience in clinical education, training, or process improvement.
