Responsibilities & Core Competencies Role Overview: Cryptocurrency News Writer The Cryptocurrency News Writer will focus exclusively on covering real, timely news across the global digital asset ecosystem. This role is centered on genuine reporting, not promotional, sponsored, or list-based affiliate content. The writer will produce up to three news articles per day covering cryptocurrency markets, major industry developments, institutional activity, regulatory shifts, and macroeconomic trends impacting digital assets. Coverage will span bitcoin, ethereum, bitcoin cash, and other major crypto-assets, as well as blockchain innovation, decentralized finance, Web3 applications, mining developments, and public company activity related to crypto. Stories may include market-moving announcements, regulatory enforcement actions, ETF developments, corporate treasury strategies, protocol upgrades, ecosystem expansions, macroeconomic catalysts affecting price action, and significant industry partnerships. The goal of this role is to expand organic search visibility for high-intent cryptocurrency keywords by publishing credible, news-driven content comparable in tone and approach to mainstream financial outlets, while maintaining strict journalistic standards. This position supports the company’s broader growth strategy by strengthening Bitcoin.com’s authority as a trusted crypto news source, ensuring coverage reflects real market developments without resorting to low-quality or SEO-driven filler content. Key Focus Areas • Daily cryptocurrency market and price movement news • Bitcoin, Ethereum, Bitcoin Cash, and major altcoin developments • Regulatory and policy updates impacting digital assets • Institutional adoption and corporate treasury activity • Blockchain innovation and protocol upgrades • Mining, infrastructure, and ecosystem growth • Macroeconomic events influencing crypto markets What This Role Is Not • Promotional or sponsored content • Affiliate-driven listicles • Speculative or fabricated news angles • Opinion pieces disguised as reporting Must-Haves for the Cryptocurrency News Writer • Proven news writing experience Demonstrated ability to report accurately and objectively. Must understand how to identify a legitimate news hook and execute clean, fact-based coverage. • Strong understanding of cryptocurrency fundamentals Comfortable using correct terminology around blockchain networks, transactions, wallets, market capitalization, liquidity, mining, staking, and on-chain activity. • Market awareness Understands how crypto markets react to macroeconomic events, regulatory developments, and institutional announcements. • Ability to cover platforms and companies objectively Can write about exchanges, protocols, public companies, and crypto-related businesses without marketing language or promotional framing. • Daily production reliability Capable of producing at least one publish-ready article per day consistently and independently. • News judgment and speed Able to quickly identify trending market developments and turn them into timely, structured news coverage. • SEO awareness without SEO abuse Understands how to naturally incorporate high-intent keywords (bitcoin price, crypto regulation, ETF approval, etc.) without keyword stuffing or compromising readability. • Strong sourcing and verification skills Uses primary sources such as official filings, press releases, public statements, regulatory documents, on-chain data, and verified social media posts. • AP Style proficiency Writes clean, clear copy adhering to AP Style and internal editorial standards. • Non-promotional, neutral tone Maintains journalistic distance at all times; no hype, no calls to action, no affiliate language. • Understanding of regulatory sensitivity Aware of legal and compliance considerations when covering financial markets and avoids misleading or exaggerated framing. Key Skills & Qualifications • 2+ years of experience in the crypto industry and 2+ years of professional writing experience. • Strong command of English, both written and verbal. • Experience covering financial markets or breaking news. • Familiarity with WordPress, formatting tools, and AI-assisted research tools. Nice to Have • Background in financial journalism. • Experience covering global macroeconomics or policy developments. • Experience managing content-heavy platforms with global audiences.
