Network Provisioning Engineer
About the position
This position provides in-depth support for the SEGRA Networks, IP, and Ethernet Networks. The Network Provisioning Engineer will have knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within one of the functional areas of the organization, identified in the Skill Discipline Matrix provided below.
Responsibilities
ā¢ Provisioning, testing, and/or troubleshooting via CLI for E-Line and ELAN.
ā¢ Provisioning experience for Ring and Linear Services.
ā¢ Troubleshooting higher level Network Hardware and provisioning.
ā¢ Utilize a computer keyboard and monitor for extended periods of time.
ā¢ Prioritize and re-prioritize as needed, in a fast-paced working environment, especially when dealing with time-sensitive issues and mandated deadlines.
Requirements
ā¢ Prior experience with E-Line and ELAN doing tasks such as provisioning, testing, and/or troubleshooting via CLI.
ā¢ Minimum of 4 years of experience in networking engineering, or alternatively a minimum of 4 years of experience in layer 2 provisioning experience related to E-Line and ELAN.
ā¢ Strong knowledge of Cisco equipment.
ā¢ Proficiency with various computer applications and Microsoft Office applications to include, but not limited to Word and Excel.
ā¢ Good analytical and problem solving skills.
ā¢ Must be detail oriented with good organizational and time management skills.
ā¢ Ability to multitask effectively.
ā¢ Must have effective interpersonal skills to interact successfully with customers, management, and team members to ensure customer satisfaction.
ā¢ Must be analytical and have proven problem-solving abilities.
Nice-to-haves
ā¢ Provisioning experience with Ciena equipment associated with SAOS 6, 8, 10.
ā¢ College degree in Engineering or a related field and 3-5 years professional level experience; or 6+ years professional level related Engineering/Technical experience; or an equivalent combination of education and professional level related Engineering/Technical experience.
ā¢ 6+ years troubleshooting higher level Network Hardware and provisioning.
ā¢ 6+ years in a network operations environment or related job.
ā¢ Extensive understanding of either the Data or Transport disciplines in the Skill Matrix.
ā¢ Excellent verbal, written communication skills.
ā¢ Excellent customer service skills.
