Position Overview We are seeking a NERC CIP Compliance Manager (Consultant) with strong expertise in NERC CIP Standards, cybersecurity, and operational technology (OT) to support utility and energy clients. !!! This is a part-time, remote 1099 consulting role, ideal for professionals currently working full-time who are looking to earn additional income while contributing to high-impact compliance projects. Key Responsibilities • Lead and support NERC CIP compliance programs (CIP-002 through CIP-014) • Perform NERC CIP gap assessments, internal audits, and compliance reviews • Support NERC audit preparation, mock audits, and evidence validation • Interpret NERC compliance monitoring and enforcement (CMEP) requirements • Develop and review cybersecurity policies, procedures, and controls • Collaborate with IT, OT, SCADA, and EMS teams to ensure compliance • Identify and implement compliance automation and reporting solutions • Support incident response, mitigation plans, and compliance risk management • Provide guidance on Bulk Electric System (BES) Cyber System classification • Assist with RSAWs, mitigation plans, and audit responses • Stay current with FERC, NERC, and CIP standard updates Required Qualifications • 6+ years of experience in NERC CIP compliance • Strong knowledge of CIP Standards (CIP-002 to CIP-014) • Experience with NERC audits, RSAWs, and compliance evidence • Background in cybersecurity, network security, and Industrial Control Systems (ICS) • Familiarity with SCADA, EMS, and OT environments • Experience working with utilities, ISOs/RTOs, or energy companies • Knowledge of NERC CMEP (Compliance Monitoring and Enforcement Program) • Ability to work independently in a remote consulting environment • Strong documentation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills Preferred Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Cybersecurity, IT, or related field • Certifications: CISA, CISSP, CIA, Security+ • Experience with compliance tools, risk frameworks, and audit management systems • Prior experience as a 1099 consultant or contractor • Experience supporting GO, GOP, TO, TOP, or RC registered entities Engagement Details • Type: 1099 Independent Contractor (No benefits) • Schedule: Flexible (2–20 hours/week) • Location: 100% Remote • Compensation: Competitive hourly rate (based on experience) Why Join Top GridRE? • Work with a leading NERC compliance and engineering consulting firm • Flexible schedule ideal for side income / supplemental work • Exposure to multiple clients across utilities, ISOs, and energy markets • Contribute to grid reliability, cybersecurity, and regulatory compliance • Expand your expertise in NERC CIP, audit readiness, and compliance strategy Pay: $40.00 - $70.00 per hour Work Location: Remote
