Position: Sr. Data Migration Architect -100% Remote
Duration: 6+ months
Location: 100% Remote
We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Senior Data Architect to lead the end-to-end data migration, modeling, and integration strategy as part of a large-scale transformation from legacy systems (e.g., AX 2009) to Microsoft Dynamics 365 CE & F&O. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Azure Data Services, Databricks Medallion Architecture, and enterprise data governance, along with a proven track record of delivering scalable, high-quality data solutions in complex enterprise environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Data Migration Strategy & Execution
• Define and own the full data migration strategy from legacy platforms (e.g., AX 2009) to Dynamics 365 CE & F&O.
• Design and implement robust ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure Data Factory and Informatica to support data movement, transformation, and validation.
• Ensure high levels of data quality, integrity, consistency, and completeness throughout the migration lifecycle.
• Establish data cleansing, mapping, and reconciliation frameworks to ensure smooth cutover.
Enterprise Data Modeling & Architecture
• Develop scalable, business-aligned enterprise data models based on Databricks Medallion architecture:
• Bronze Layer: Raw data ingestion from APIs, flat files, FTP/SFTP.
• Silver Layer: Cleansed, normalized, and structured data.
• Gold Layer: Curated, analytics-ready data for business consumption.
• Define and maintain data lineage, metadata standards, and governance using Unity Catalog and Azure Purview.
• Optimize data architecture for performance, reusability, and ease of integration with reporting tools.
Integration & Real-Time Data Enablement
• Enable real-time and batch data ingestion from diverse systems such as Shelter LOB, PetProPortal, SFCC, Vetco, Dropbox, and FTP endpoints.
• Integrate enterprise data flows via Azure Event Hub, Logic Apps, and Azure Function Apps.
• Synchronize Dynamics 365 data with downstream applications through APIs, Dataverse, and messaging queues.
Collaboration & Data Governance
• Partner with enterprise architects, data engineers, BI teams, and business analysts to align data architecture with evolving business needs.
• Implement end-to-end data validation, reconciliation, and exception-handling frameworks.
• Ensure data privacy and security compliance in accordance with internal and regulatory policies.
• Actively contribute to enterprise data governance boards, frameworks, and documentation efforts.
Required Skills & Experience:
• 10+ years of experience in data architecture, enterprise data modeling, and data platform modernization.
• Proven experience with:
• Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Delta Lake
• Informatica ETL, Azure Event Hub, Logic Apps
• Star/Snowflake schema and dimensional modeling techniques
• Deep familiarity with Dynamics 365 CE & F&O data structures and legacy systems (e.g., AX 2009).
• Hands-on experience designing solutions aligned with Medallion architecture and data lakehouse principles.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate or similar Azure certifications.
• Experience with Unity Catalog, Azure Purview, data privacy and security frameworks.
• Familiarity with CI/CD and DevOps practices for data pipelines using Azure DevOps.
