Key Responsibilities
• Conduct in-depth statistical analysis of music consumption data, user engagement, and market trends to generate actionable insights for strategic decision-making.
• Develop and implement robust predictive models and algorithms to forecast music popularity, identify emerging artists, and predict genre shifts.
• Design and execute research methodologies for analyzing audio features, lyrical content, and metadata to understand musical characteristics driving success.
• Translate complex data findings into clear, concise, and engaging reports and presentations for both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Collaborate effectively with product development, marketing, A&R, and content teams to integrate analytical insights into various business functions.
• Stay abreast of the latest advancements in data science, machine learning, and music technology, continuously seeking to apply new techniques.
• Contribute to the enhancement of data infrastructure and analytical tools, ensuring data quality and accessibility for research purposes.
Required Skills
• Proficiency in data analysis and manipulation using languages such as Python (Pandas, NumPy, SciPy) or R.
• Strong statistical modeling skills, including regression, classification, time series analysis, and hypothesis testing.
• Demonstrated experience working with large, complex datasets, including cleaning, transforming, and validating data.
• Solid understanding of the music industry landscape, including streaming platforms, content creation, and listener behaviors.
• Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
• Proven ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and deliver high-quality results within flexible schedules.
• Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Music Technology, Musicology, or a closely related quantitative field.
Preferred Qualifications
• Master's or Ph.D. in a relevant quantitative field or Music Technology.
• Experience applying machine learning techniques, such as natural language processing (NLP) for lyrics or audio feature analysis.
• Familiarity with various music streaming platform APIs and public datasets relevant to the music industry.
• A portfolio showcasing relevant data analysis or research projects, particularly those related to music or entertainment.
• Proficiency with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Matplotlib, Seaborn) to present insights effectively.
