Municipal Accountant (Full-Time, Fully Remote) EDM Financial LLC is a growing public-sector finance firm providing outsourced accounting, financial management, and advisory services to municipalities, authorities, and special purpose entities across Pennsylvania. As our municipal portfolio continues to expand, we are seeking a full-time Municipal Accountant to join our remote team. This role is ideal for an experienced municipal or government accountant who enjoys hands-on work, values flexibility, and wants to make a meaningful impact across multiple entities—without the constraints of a traditional office environment. Position Overview The Municipal Accountant will support multiple Pennsylvania municipal entities by performing core accounting, financial reporting, and compliance functions. This position works closely with EDM leadership and client management teams to ensure accurate financial records, timely reporting, and strong internal controls. This is a 100% remote position, with flexible scheduling during normal business hours. Key Responsibilities • Maintain general ledger accounts for multiple municipal clients • Process and review accounts payable, cash disbursements, and journal entries • Perform monthly, quarterly, and year-end reconciliations • Assist with budget preparation, amendments, and financial analysis • Prepare financial reports for managers, councils, boards, and authorities • Support audit preparation, including schedules, workpapers, and auditor requests • Ensure compliance with GASB. • Collaborate with EDM team members to improve processes, efficiency, and controls • Communicate professionally with municipal officials, staff, and external partners Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field • Municipal or governmental accounting experience strongly preferred • Knowledge of fund accounting and public-sector financial reporting • Experience with municipal accounting software systems preferred • Strong understanding of internal controls and audit requirements • High level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail • Ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines independently • Strong written and verbal communication skills • Comfortable working in a fully remote, technology-driven environment What EDM Offers • Full-time, fully remote position • Competitive salary based on experience • Flexible work environment with professional autonomy • Exposure to a wide range of Pennsylvania entities • Supportive, collaborative team culture • Opportunity for professional growth as EDM continues to expand statewide • Meaningful work supporting public entities and communities To Apply: Submit your resume and a brief introduction outlining your municipal accounting experience and interest to Matt Lentz, CEO & Founder [email protected].
