Mortgage Underwriter (Fully remote WI or IL only)

This is a fully remote role (within the JFG footprint Wisconsin / Illinois) One will be responsible for underwriting residential mortgage loans in compliance with bank, investor & secondary market guidelines, and rendering final credit decision accordingly. Act as a resource for mortgage loan officers.

Position Specific Responsibilities
Underwrites conventional, government and construction loans according to JFG and investor rules
Uses in-depth knowledge of bank, investor, private mortgage insurance company, and governmental/VA regulatory guidelines to underwrite residential mortgage loans
Analyze financial information including calculation of income and debt ratios, verification of assets, collateral and credit review
Achieves and exceeds work goals for productivity, quality and turnaround time
Monitor external quality control reports and external and internal loan reviews to ensure loan quality
Evaluate facts and data to draw conclusions, determine the downstream impact of decisions and associated risks
Resolve difficult or challenging problems by identifying potential solutions and clearly communicate with relevant personnel
Keep up on industry requirements and standards through various training opportunities
Acts as a resource for the lenders and assists with training opportunities
Job Requirements
Minimum of 4+ years of underwriting experience
Knowledge of FNMA / FHLMC / FHLB / VA / Secondary market
Encompass experience a plus
Excellent analytical and decision making skills
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
College degree and/or equivalent work experience
