Medical Transcriptionist
About the position
Responsibilities
• Transcribing codes and delivering gross and microscopic descriptions on surgical pathology cases.
• Accurate and timely data entry of dictated and/or handwritten pathology cases into the laboratory information system.
• Identifying problems and determining appropriate corrective actions and solutions.
• Researching, troubleshooting, and following up to ensure all inquiries and problems are resolved in a timely manner.
Requirements
• High school diploma or equivalent with transcription certificate OR 1-3 years of experience in transcription or transcription-related experience.
• Past pathology experience is a definite plus, but not required.
• An associate's degree is preferred.
• Previous experience using foot pedal, audio software, and word processing software is preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terms and medical language is required.
• Knowledge of medical billing and codes is required.
• Advanced spelling and grammar skills are required.
Nice-to-haves
• Experience in medical billing and coding.
• Familiarity with laboratory information systems.
