Medical Billing Specialist- Certification Required

About the position

Responsibilities
• Examine claim submissions daily for accuracy and completeness, working claim rejections to successful submission.
• Evaluate and audit accounts to determine the status and appropriate action required to receive the correct payment.
• Document follow-up properly in practice management systems.
• Research and follow-up on denials in Availity and escalated denials in NextGen utilizing denial management reports and communication.
• Receive, review, and respond to communication from insurance companies.
• Use websites, phone, and/or correspondence to contact payers regarding reimbursement for unpaid accounts.
• Contact clients or internal partners to collect information necessary for submission and payment of claims.
• Work together with management to identify payer trends and non-payment issues.
• Identify, verify, and document account adjustments according to policy and procedure.
• Make sure service level and productivity requirements are met as they relate to reimbursement of accounts, resolution of tasks, and response to inquiries, etc.
• Improve and maintain positive working relationships and partner with internal and external customers by providing superior customer service.
• Assist with claim implementations for assigned clients, as needed.
• Perform periodic audits to reconcile claims and accounting billings.
• Other duties as needed.

Requirements
• Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in medical billing and denial management.
• CRCR or CPC certification is required.
• Laboratory Billing experience required.
• Working knowledge of medical billing terminology, such as CPT and ICD-10 codes.
• Thorough knowledge of the healthcare revenue cycle and payer processes.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Office Suite.
• Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and consistently meeting goals.
• Experience with NextGen, Availity, or other healthcare practice management systems.
• Strong organizational and analytical skills.
