Come join our awesome crew of change makers! POSITION SUMMARY The Medical Billing Assistant supports the revenue cycle operations of the facility. This role is responsible for assisting with claims processing, insurance verification, payment posting, payment collection, and follow-up to ensure accurate and timely reimbursement. The ideal candidate has experience working with Medicaid (OHP), commercial insurance, private pay and understands the nuances of behavioral health billing, including authorizations and level of care requirements. WORK LOCATION: This is a remote position. Due to business and payroll compliance requirements, we are only able to consider applicants who are legally authorized to work and physically reside in California, Oregon, or Idaho . ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The essential functions may include, but are not limited to the following: Demonstrate proficiency in billing software, Electronic Health Records (EHRs), and other relevant computer systems. Maintain accurate and timely postings of payments. Follow up on claim denials and initiate appeals when necessary. Identify and resolve billing discrepancies and claim issues. Insurance Verification and Authorizations. Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits prior to services. Obtain and track pre-authorizations in a timely manner. Ensure all pertinent insurance and authorization information is accurately updated in client accounts. Maintain a high level of care, compassion, and comfortability as you work with and communicate with providers and clients as needed. Collect copays, coinsurance, deductibles and private payments daily with precision and professionalism. Ensure compliance with HIPAA and other applicable regulations. Maintain confidentiality and accuracy in all patient-related documentation. Assist with accounts payable and eventually take over accounts payable Other billing and accounting duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES) High school diploma or GED required Medical billing experience: 2 years (required) Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Excellent verbal and written communication abilities. Effective problem-solving skills and ability to work independently. Capable of managing a high volume of tasks and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Excellent critical thinking and robust curiosity.
