Medical Biller/Coder – Outpatient Rehab

CSI Companies is actively hiring for a Remote Medical Biller/Coder – Outpatient Rehab for one of our top healthcare clients. Hours: 40 hours/week Location: Remote Pay: $28-45/hour based on location, experience, education, and credentials Position Type: Consultant Job Summary: We’re looking for a seasoned Medical Biller/Coder with to support a high-visibility client initiative. In this role, you’ll go beyond day-to-day coding—you’ll be validating the quality and accuracy of a newly developed tool, ensuring it aligns with industry standards, and performing second-level reviews for billing and coding compliance. This role blends sharp technical coding skills with an analytical mindset and a keen eye for quality assurance. Job Responsibilities: • Conduct 2nd-level coding reviews to ensure accuracy and completeness for outpatient rehabilitation claims, including physical, occupational, and speech therapy services. • Evaluate and validate the performance of an internal coding tool, identifying issues, inconsistencies, or improvement opportunities. • Collaborate with internal QA, product, and clinical teams to provide feedback on tool functionality and output. • Ensure claims are coded in compliance with CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10, payer guidelines, and CMS regulations. • Identify trends in coding errors or patterns and contribute to process enhancements. • Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA and confidentiality regulations. • Participate in calibration sessions and internal audits as needed. Minimum Qualifications: • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent is required • 3+ years of medical billing and coding experience within ortho, rehab, or physical therapy • Strong working knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, and medical terminology relevant to rehabilitation therapy. • Experience conducting quality reviews, audits, or 2nd-level coding validation. • Active coding certification (CPC, CCS, CPB, RHIT, or RHIA) • Familiarity with electronic health records (EHRs) and coding/billing systems. • Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Preferred Qualifications: • Prior experience evaluating or working alongside coding automation or decision-support tools. • Knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid rehab billing requirements. • Ability to work independently and cross-functionally in a remote environment.
