Department: 05711 WFBMG University Group Practice: WFBMC Main - Virtual Health: Visits Emergency Room Status: Part time Benefits Eligible: No Hours Per Week: 0 Schedule Details/Additional Information: Training Requirement: Candidates must be available to attend training for 3 consecutive weeks, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. This is not a remote position Variable days and time, office is open 24/7 365, shifts are 7:00am-7:00pm and 7:00pm-7:00am Pay Range $20.40 - $32.20 Job Description This is not a remote position Training Requirement: Candidates must be available to attend training for 3 consecutive weeks, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Major Responsibilities: • Adheres to Medical Assistant scope of practice, follows all policies and procedures, and maintains training and competency based on area of specialty when providing patient care. • Performs rooming/visit tasks such as vital signs, medication reconciliation, medical history, health maintenance, allergy review, and screenings (depression, suicide, falls, social drivers of health, etc.). • Assists provider with or performs procedures as ordered. • Performs lab related duties such as venipuncture, specimen collection/labeling/packing, preparation of lab orders/requisitions, and results tracking. Point of Care testing (POCT) per standing order/provider order. Completes Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) approved waived laboratory tests and practice-specific diagnostic testing in adherence to CLIA standards. • Administers medications and vaccines safely following the rights of medication administration. • Performs other duties as assigned such as medication refills, insurance authorizations, safety/regulatory log completion, patient messaging, medication/supply ordering, appointment scheduling, and referrals. • Cross trained to perform duties that are relevant to specialty or clinic practice within the scope of the Medical Assistant. • Demonstrates effective and timely communication, teamwork, and appropriate escalation. • Maintains a clean work environment ensuring instruments and equipment are cleaned appropriately. Ensures equipment and supplies are in working order, and areas are appropriately stocked. • Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patients status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patients requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the departments policies and procedures. Age-specific information is developed further in the departmental job standards. Minimum Job Requirements Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required: • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) Must have a CMA or RMA by one of the following National Organizations REQUIRED: • CMA from American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) • CCMA from National Health career Association (NHA) • NCMA from National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) • RMA from American Medical Technologists (AMT). • RMA from American Allied Health • NCMSMA from National Healthcare Worker’s Association (NHCWA) • NRCMA from National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP) • NRMA from National Registry of Medical Assistants (NRMA) Education Required: • GED or HS Equivalency Diploma. • Completion of an accredited or approved program in Medical Assistant, Experience Required: • No experience required, 1 year preferred Knowledge / Skills / Abilities • Ability to perform routine and complex technical skills, within the Medical Assistant scope of practice after demonstrated competency. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to develop rapport and maintain positive, professional relationships with a variety of patients, team members and physicians. • Proficient computer skills including keyboarding, navigation within a windows operating system, and use of electronic mail with exposure to electronic medical records systems. • Demonstrates customer service skills that support a positive patient experience. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions • Must sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, crawl, kneel, climb, and reach above shoulders throughout the workday. • Ability to lift 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other team member, when available. • Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case- by -case basis. • Must have functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch with ability to use fine-hand manipulation skills. • Will be exposed to the following hazards on a frequent basis: mechanical, electrical, chemical, blood and body fluids. Will be required to wear protective clothing and equipment as needed. • Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
