Position: Media Specialist

Reports To: Principal

Position Type: Hourly, non-exempt

Work Schedule: 10-Month Position

Hours: Part-time

Job Purpose:

Under the supervision of the Principal, the Media Specialist works in a flexible environment, collaborating with staff, and maintaining the holdings of the school’s media center.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.

Valid MS Educator’s Certificate in Educational Media Specialist.

Experience with multiple forms of instructional technology.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Maintains knowledge of laws and regulations regarding school media and implements them appropriately during collection development and library management.

Catalogs collections of media that support the educational curriculum.

Develops and maintains media center collections based on the information needs of students and stakeholder input.

Responsible for media center collection development and curating.

Eliminates outdated, inappropriate, and unsuitable materials.

Assists in the development and administration of the media budget.

Maintains an accurate and current inventory of media materials and equipment and submits reports promptly.

Selects materials for a variety of student/staff interests, learning styles and reading levels.

Performs other related duties as required.

Physical Requirements/Activity:

Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently.

The position requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, lift (up to 20 pounds), finger dexterity, grasping, talking, hearing acuity, and visual acuity.

Indoor and Outdoor: Media Specialist is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside.

Evaluation:
Performance of this job will be evaluated with provisions of the board’s policy on evaluation.
