Apply API Engineer I Fully Remote • PA Apply Description Role Overview: We are looking for a motivated API Engineer I to support the team by building well-scoped APIs, enhancements, tests, and integration components. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop expertise in FHIR standards and AI-ready service patterns while contributing to impactful healthcare backend systems. Requirements Key Responsibilities: Build and maintain API endpoints, service enhancements, and bug fixes. Support data transformation, validation, and integration tasks across backend services. Assist with FHIR-related development, including payload handling, resource mappings, and testing. Contribute to the development of reusable service interfaces that enable downstream AI and automation use cases. Write unit tests, documentation, and operational runbooks as needed. Collaborate closely with senior engineers to learn platform patterns, coding standards, and domain-specific requirements. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience). 2+ years of backend engineering experience. Solid understanding of programming fundamentals, API design, and relational databases. Experience with at least one modern backend programming language and common development tools. Willingness to learn FHIR healthcare interoperability concepts and MCP-related implementation patterns. Basic familiarity with cloud deployment concepts; experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) is a plus. Strong attention to detail with a demonstrated ability to learn quickly. Preferred Experience: Experience with automated testing frameworks and CI/CD workflows. Interest or background in healthcare technology, APIs, and AI-enabled systems.
