The role involves designing and supporting complex mechanical equipment, focusing on the development of detailed design documents and specifications to meet project requirements.ResponsibilitiesEvaluates, selects, and applies standard mechanical engineering methods, techniques, procedures, and criteria, using independent judgment in making adaptations and modificationsParticipates in the design, development, modification and evaluation of mechanical components and processes used utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs)Coordinates work and collaborates with other engineering disciplinesProvides technical assistance to other mechanical personnel and will interact with project functions, the customer, and regulatory agency personnel in the resolution of complex regulatory issues and industry codes and standardsPrepares standard discipline deliverables and prepares standard engineering budgets and schedules within disciplineLead engineering efforts on assignments while providing instruction and mentoring junior engineersPerform work that involves conventional engineering practice but may include complex features such as resolving conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials and/or difficult coordination requirementsPrepares or assists in preparation of conceptual studies, designs, reports, or proposalsSkillsMust be authorized to work and remain in the United States without Bechtel visa sponsorship now or in the futureMust be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical (if located at the construction site), and background check which includes verification of employment and educationMust be able to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the Hanford Site.
