Mechanical Engineer

The Mechanical Engineer role focuses on developing automated mobile heavy equipment to enhance safety and efficiency in industrial tasks, involving design, drafting, and collaboration with cross-functional teams. Responsibilities Create, manage, and organize detailed CAD models and drawings, including importing, simplifying, and documenting designs Develop CAD models of existing hardware to support system integration and design improvements Model 3D sheet‑metal parts and complex multi‑part assemblies using Onshape (preferred) Produce 2D fabrication drawings with accurate GD&T (ASME Y14.5), welding symbols, annotations, and bend details Optimize sheet‑metal parts, generate flat patterns, and support fabrication readiness Manage large assemblies, hardware lists, sub‑assemblies, and generate complete BOMs including electrical revisions and buyout components Maintain and revise drawings and assemblies based on Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) Review drawings and assemblies with a strong attention to detail to catch issues early and ensure high‑quality deliverables Work closely with product owners to translate requirements into designs that meet safety, performance, and usability goals Provide technical input for operator manuals, assembly documentation, and maintenance guides Skills Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (Master's is a plus) 1 to 4 years of experience in robotics, automotive, automation, or similar domains Strong proficiency in CAD tools: Onshape (preferred), SolidWorks, Creo, or similar Solid understanding of mechanical systems, materials, and manufacturing processes Working knowledge of GD&T and welding processes Experience with sheet‑metal design, flat patterns, and assembly-level modeling Exposure to pneumatic and hydraulic systems Clear communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively across mechanical, electrical, and product teams High attention to detail with the ability to identify errors and improve design documentation Demonstrated interest in automation, robotics, or safety‑critical systems is a strong plus Model 3D sheet‑metal parts and complex multi‑part assemblies using Onshape Hands‑on experience in prototyping, testing, or hardware builds Benefits Paid time off based on employee grade (A-F), defined by policy: Vacation: 12-25 days, depending on grade Company paid holidays Personal Days Sick Leave Medical, dental, and vision coverage (or provincial healthcare coordination in Canada) Retirement savings plans (e.g., 401(k) in the U.S., RRSP in Canada) Life and disability insurance Employee assistance programs Other benefits as provided by local policy and eligibility Company Overview Capgemini Engineering is a global innovation and engineering consulting firm.
