Amentum is involved in launching people to the Moon and Mars, and they are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support NASA's Artemis program. The role involves performing mechanical and aerospace engineering tasks, developing plans, leading teams, and ensuring compliance with safety standards.ResponsibilitiesPerform mechanical and aerospace engineering tasks in support of NASA's Artemis programResponsible for developing plans, writing work authorization documents, leading Task Teams and executing hazardous and nonhazardous test on ground and flight systemsProvide technical engineering direction for the Mechanical Engineering Department to include technical procedure development and operational supportDepending on the project type, this can vary from participating in conceptual design ideas to revisions to existing designs and modifications to existing structures or Ground Support Equipment (GSE)Duties also include preparation of all essential system engineering documentation components required for a complete and viable systemResponsible for planning, cost development, management, and scheduling for assigned projectsMust have ability to successfully interface with client representatives and manage completion of tasks on schedule and within budget to the customer's satisfactionDuties may also include oversight of systems activations to validate compliance with contract documentsMust be well organized, extremely flexible and capable of juggling multiple priorities simultaneouslyWork shall assure that systems operate in a safe and appropriate manner and comply with all federal, state and local codes/ regulationsPerform other duties as assignedSkillsMust have valid US Driver's LicenseLevel 1 Bachelor of Science in Engineering or technical equivalent from an accredited institutionLevel 2 Bachelor of Science in Engineering or technical equivalent from an accredited institution; at least four years of experienceLevel 3 Bachelor of Science in Engineering or technical equivalent from an accredited institution; at least ten years of experience and/or an advanced degreeLevel 4 Bachelor of Science in Engineering or technical equivalent from an accredited institution; at least 15 years of experienceStrong mechanical/Aerospace background is highly desirable due to the mechanical aspects of the flight hardware, flight support equipment, and ground support equipmentAbility to work effectively and cooperatively in a team environment with clear, concise, and accurate verbal and written communication skillsExcellent customer interface skills requiredAnalytical and problem-solving skills are a mustExperience with Microsoft Office products, Internet browsers, OutlookCapable of reading/understanding technical manuals, drawings and schematicsAbility to plan, manage and prioritize multiple projectsMust have the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, if necessaryMay be required to climb stairs to access equipment for troubleshootingPosition may involve extended periods of sitting or standingPhysical requirements are sitting, walking, standing, extensive use of stairs, and access to remote structuresPosition is located on a hazardous testing facility; must be able to quickly evacuate buildings in the event of an emergencyPosition may require individual to travel daily to different areas on siteWalking on uneven terrain including paved areas, gravel/rocks, and dirt/sand, may be required to access various locations on the facilityClimbing ladders and platforms may be necessaryAll work must be completed in a safe manner in accordance with NASA and company safety standardsFull-time work hoursPosition may require occasional overtime, including weekend work, depending on taskMust be dependable and punctualShift work may be requiredMust be able to accurately communicate ideas in writing and verbal communicationMust be able to travel to support position requirementsGrooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or othersMust comply with all 'drug free workplace' requirements as mandated by directives issued by the appropriate federal contracting officer and the company, which requires drug testing for use of illegal drugs by employees in sensitive positionsGovernment security clearance may be required in the futureMust maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters good relations with customers, clients, co-workers, and managementBenefitsHealth, dental, and vision insurancePaid time off and holidaysRetirement benefits (including 401(k) matching)Educational reimbursementParental leaveEmployee stock purchase planTax-saving optionsDisability and life insurancePet insuranceCompany OverviewAmentum is a technology and engineering company for security, defense, and energy.
