We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Materials Quality Assurance Supervisor to lead our Materials Section in ensuring the quality of materials used in construction and maintenance projects. Job Summary

As a Materials Quality Assurance Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing the materials quality assurance program, including sampling, testing, and observation of materials proposed for use by contractors and suppliers. You will work closely with our construction and maintenance teams to ensure that materials meet specifications and are suitable for use in our projects. This is a supervisory role, and you will be responsible for leading a team of materials inspectors and technicians.

Key Responsibilities


Develop and implement materials quality assurance plans and procedures to ensure compliance with contract and purchase order requirements
Supervise a team of materials inspectors and technicians, providing guidance and training as needed
Conduct materials sampling and testing, including field testing and laboratory analysis
Review and interpret test results, identifying any deficiencies or non-conformities
Collaborate with construction and maintenance teams to resolve materials-related issues and ensure project quality
Develop and maintain records and reports, including materials certification and testing records
Participate in emergency response operations, as needed, to provide materials inspection and testing support


Essential Qualifications


Experience applying materials quality control and quality assurance practices
Skill in the use of materials testing equipment and tools
Ability to perform manual labor, including securing, handling, and preparing material samples
Ability to supervise a diversified staff, including performance management and discipline, work planning, and prioritization
Skill in the use of computers and software applications, including data analysis and reporting
Ability to gather and analyze data and prepare technical reports
Knowledge of material sampling and testing procedures, including AASHTO and ASTM testing specifications and Virginia Test Methods
Experience in highway construction and maintenance methods and materials, including their properties and performance


Preferred Qualifications


Possession of required materials certifications
Experience in materials documentation
A combination of training, experience, or education in Civil Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related field
Experience in highway civil engineering, project management, or supervisory experience in a transportation engineering environment

Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of $67,646 - $109,925, depending on qualifications and experience. Our benefits package includes:
