Marketo Campaign Developer (Front End)
We are seeking a Marketo Campaign Developer to design, build, and maintain high quality, responsive, and dynamic email templates that support scalable B2B marketing campaigns. This role is focused on front end development for email, template systems, and campaign execution—not Marketo platform architecture or system integrations.
The ideal candidate combines modern front end development skills with deep experience building production ready HTML email templates that render consistently across devices and email clients. This role partners closely with Marketing Operations, Designers, and Campaign Managers to bring campaigns to life efficiently and reliably.
Key Responsibilities
Email & Template Development
• Design and develop responsive HTML email templates optimized for major email clients (Outlook, Gmail, Apple Mail, mobile).
• Build modular, reusable template components that support rapid campaign assembly in Marketo.
• Implement dynamic content, personalization tokens, and conditional logic within email templates.
• Translate design mockups (Figma, Adobe XD, etc.) into pixel accurate, production ready email code.
Front End & Technical Execution
• Apply modern front end best practices (semantic HTML, CSS architecture, progressive enhancement) adapted for email constraints.
• Ensure accessibility, performance, and deliverability best practices are met.
• Troubleshoot rendering issues across devices, browsers, and email clients.
• Maintain and improve a shared email design system / component library.
Marketo Campaign Support
• Build and configure emails and landing pages within Marketo using approved templates.
• Support campaign launches by ensuring assets are correctly configured, tested, and QA’d.
• Collaborate with Marketing Operations on template usage, tokens, and naming standards.
• Assist with A/B testing setup and execution for subject lines, layouts, and content variations.
Collaboration & Quality
• Partner with Designers, Content, and Marketing Ops to deliver campaigns on schedule.
• Participate in QA reviews to ensure brand, technical, and functional standards are met.
• Contribute to documentation and best practices for campaign and template usage.
What This Role Does Not Own
To be explicit, this role does not:
• Own Marketo system architecture or governance
• Design CRM or API integrations
• Manage lead lifecycle models, scoring, or routing logic
• Serve as the Marketo technical authority
Those responsibilities sit with Marketing Operations or Platform Architecture roles.
Required Qualifications
• 3+ years of experience building HTML email templates for marketing campaigns.
• Strong proficiency in HTML and CSS, with deep understanding of email client limitations.
• Experience building responsive, modular email templates using modern techniques.
• Hands on experience executing campaigns in Adobe Marketo Engage (or similar MAPs).
• Familiarity with personalization tokens, dynamic content, and campaign QA workflows.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with JavaScript for light interactivity or build tooling (where appropriate).
• Familiarity with email testing tools (e.g., Litmus, Email on Acid).
• Experience working with design systems and component libraries.
• Understanding of email deliverability best practices.
• Experience collaborating in Agile or fast paced marketing teams.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
• Hourly contract rate range of $60.00 to $70.00 based on experience and qualifications, as well as geographical market and business considerations.
