Context
DoorDash (and similar delivery platforms) do not use fixed delivery radii. Instead, their coverage zones are dynamic and influenced by traffic, driver availability, and demand. This means that a restaurant or brand may appear 'available for delivery' in some areas at certain times of day, but 'unavailable' in those same areas at other times.
For this project, the focus is Sweet Dough Cinna Rolls in Sherman Oaks, Los Angeles. The business goal is to understand exactly what the DoorDash delivery coverage zone looks like at peak traffic time (around 5:00 PM on a weekday). That time of day is particularly important because:
- Los Angeles experiences its worst congestion between 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM, with around 5:00 PM being the sharpest peak.
- DoorDash often shrinks delivery zones during peak congestion to ensure food arrives on time.
- Understanding the true 5:00 PM delivery zone perimeter is crucial for evaluating consumer reach, market sizing, and partnership planning.
The project is about taking a snapshot of availability at exactly that peak moment, translating it into a geographic boundary, and exporting it in standard formats (KML/GeoJSON) so it can be overlaid on a map for visualization and analysis. This delivers clear, decision-ready insight into how far this brand can really reach customers during the busiest part of the day.

I am including one methodology below that should be able to produce what Iām looking for. However, if you know of a more efficient or reliable way to get the same result, feel free to use your own methodology instead.
