Manufacturing Engineer
Ford Motor Company believes in the freedom of movement and is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join their team. In this role, you will provide manufacturing engineering leadership throughout a new model development program, applying lean manufacturing principles to enhance efficiency and quality in vehicle production.ResponsibilitiesProvide manufacturing engineering leadership throughout a new model development program, beginning at initial concept through launch at the final assembly facilityDevelopment of tooling and facilities based on product and processApply lean manufacturing principlesLead virtual manufacturing assembly buildsDrive resolution of manufacturing issuesInterface with Design and Release activitiesDevelop formal assembly process instructions and enter the process sheets into VPS systemLead assembly tooling specification purchase, installation, start-up, and commissioning at the assembly siteTrack all open tooling and process issues and drive to closure including meeting all exit criteria deliverables - cycle time, throughput, workstation readiness, etcPrepare management presentationsDrive quality, cost and labor improvementsSupport new model launchesDuring launches, the position will require extensive travel, standing, and walking in a plant environmentDeliver dimensionally in-spec parts for their respective systemUnderstand component data and a system impactDeliver cycle line layouts and work with the assembly plants to have a complete operator/equipment workstation ready for launchOperate in stressful situations within timing constraintsWork with minimal direct supervisionSkillsBachelor's degree in mechanical or an equivalent manufacturing engineeringWillingness to travel and support launch activities at our North American Assembly plants (USA, Canada & Mexico)1 or more years of Microsoft Office experience to include Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPointUp to 40-50% travel requiredSolid background with virtual manufacturing toolsExperience with tooling, process, quality, and or facility equipment in a production environmentExcellent communication and presentation skillsWorking knowledge of statistics (control charts, data collecting, etc.)BenefitsImmediate medical, dental, vision and prescription drug coverageFlexible family care days, paid parental leave, new parent ramp-up programs, subsidized back-up child care and moreFamily building benefits including adoption and surrogacy expense reimbursement, fertility treatments, and moreVehicle discount program for employees and family members and management leasesTuition assistanceEstablished and active employee resource groupsPaid time off for individual and team community serviceA generous schedule of paid holidays, including the week between Christmas and New Yearβs DayPaid time off and the option to purchase additional vacation time.Company OverviewWe don't just make history -- we make the future.
