Managing Editor, SEO Content
Vimeo is looking for an experienced content team lead with a strong track record of running high-volume editorial machines and growing a publication.
Reporting to the Director, SEO Content, the Managing Editor will lead and grow our new editorial content team, own the editorial execution for the Vimeo blog, and report regularly on blog performance, identifying opportunities for improvement and cross-team collaboration.
This role is ideal for a seasoned manager who knows how to manage and mentor
What youâll do:
⢠Manage a team of high-performing, in-house content marketers to create the best content on the internet for business professionals learning how to use video. You lead with candor, vision, and empathy, establishing a shared understanding of âgoodâ and setting ambitious, ownable goals for the team to work toward
⢠Grow a talent-dense editorial team of in-house editors, in-house writers, freelance writers, and other creative professionals and agencies. Your management experience makes you the ideal person to , deepening our bench and building relationships based on candor, trust, and empathy
⢠Shape and own the content production process from pitch to publish, creating systems and processes that scale the teamâs output while pushing the bounds creatively. When asked to choose between quantity and quality, you say âWhy not both?â
⢠Work with SEO content strategists and other stakeholders to capitalize on search opportunities and plan our editorial calendar
⢠Set high quality standards and build repeatable processes for writers, editors, and designers to follow. The right person wonât just meet our current standards for quality; theyâll evolve what âgreat contentâ looks like at Vimeo and constantly raise the bar.
⢠Work cross-functionally with channel leads to ensure healthy content distribution for every post.
⢠Measure and report on traffic and conversions, using data and insights to guide your decisions and help us grow faster.
Skills and knowledge you should possess:
⢠You are a seasoned content team leader. You have proven experience hiring, coaching, and managing first-class writers and editors at publications with high editorial standards.
⢠You have well-worn playbooks for building and scaling streamlined editorial processes and know how to efficiently manage projects, expectations, and your own time.
⢠You are a gifted writer and editor. You understand what good writing looks like and have impeccable editing and proofreading skills. You can rattle off 20 catchy headlines at the drop of a hat, rework the structure of any article, and catch typos, grammatical lapses and the different nuances of requested topics.
⢠Youâre results-driven and prioritize impact over perfection.
⢠Solid understanding of SEO tactics and best practices as it applies to content creation and optimization.
