Job Description

CDM Smith's Industrial team is seeking an experienced Manager, Building Information Modeling with a strong background in heavy industrial, manufacturing, and energy/power facilities.

Your Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the development, maintenance and ongoing update of enterprise level planning templates for Scanning to BIM, BIM execution (including VDC execution), clash detection and trending, record drawing production from models, and other related activities.
- Developing procedures and policies for model management. Defining processes and tools to develop and maintain the content libraries (IP) for design.
- Developing policies for collaboration with subconsultants and vendors. Identifying processes, procedures and applications to improve modeling productivity and quality. Conducting project audits to verify that established BIM standards, conventions, and procedures are being followed.
- Providing input to the technology leadership enterprise-wide on BIM software application needs and updates. Reviewing and recommending best practices based on available workflows, standard templates, tools and processes. Checking and reviewing high profile projects to assure quality and conformance with applicable enterprise-wide VDC Quality Management Procedures.
- Working closely with the project delivery leadership to identify staff, technology, and/or training needs to deliver the appropriate BIM level of design (LOD).
- Collaborating with enterprise-wide resource centers. Fostering an environment of continuous improvement, technical excellence and ingenuity.
- Mentoring staff and developing them for future growth in the firm.
- Advocating for the use of BIM and VDC throughout the enterprise. Educating practitioners and senior leadership on the established BIM vision. Providing BIM support for business development.
- Providing oversight of BIM Coordinators in their review of concept level models using appropriate intellectual property (IP) and in alignment with the pursuit team's needs.
- Reviewing and recommending the appropriate use of BIM and VDC on projects. Presenting BIM and VDC approaches and benefits to existing and potentially new clients in support of business development.
- Reviewing BIM processes at project closeout and capturing unique aspects of project models for future use to improve efficiency.
- Developing processes to capture and communicate lessons learned and issues to the user communities on BIM standards, tools templates, IP, etc. Performs other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree.
- 10 years of related experience.
- Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.

Preferred Qualifications

- Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD Plant3D, and Navisworks.
- Experience developing and coordinating 3D BIM models for industrial and petrochemical piping systems (process, utility, and facility piping).
- Experience with industrial facilities such as chemical plants, power plants, and manufacturing campuses.
- Experience supporting clash detection in Navisworks. Experience with constructability reviews, and coordination with mechanical, electrical, structural, and process disciplines.

Skills and Abilities

- Demonstrated, successful, multi-discipline, team management experience required; multi-discipline project delivery experience with BIM and VDC modeling preferred.
- Expert knowledge of technical design software, including Autodesk and Bentley platforms.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Understanding of industry standard quality control procedures.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to resolve challenging situations.
- Ability to lead and empower team members and maintain positive attitude during adversity.
- Ability to actively listen through acknowledgment of other perspectives and dialogue.
- Comfortable working with the public when representing the firm.
- Excellent problem solving skills.
