Manager of Software Engineering

Intelligent Medical Objects (IMO) (Houston, TX) seeks a Manager of Software Engineering to be responsible for team productivity and career development, help execute the NLP and GenAI strategy which aligns with our product and technology roadmap and provide technical leadership, strategy, and architectural vision to their team. Specific Duties Include: Oversee the design, implementation, and optimization of AI and NLP solutions, ensuring scalability, high availability, compliance, and security in line with industry standards such as HIPAA, SOC 2, and other relevant regulationsCollaborate with stakeholders to define AI and NLP strategies, aligning technical efforts with business objectivesLead research initiatives on Large Language Models (LLMs), exploring novel architectures, techniques, and methodologiesWork closely with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, engineers, and product managers, to integrate research findings into practical, user-centric applicationsProvide strategic direction for the adoption and integration of cutting-edge AI technologiesEstablish and maintain best practices for AI/ML and NLP development, focusing on scalability, reliability, and performance of AI-driven productsManage project timelines, resource allocation, and budgetary oversight, ensuring projects deliver high ROI and positively impact product functionality and user experienceCollaborate with product management and other stakeholders to prioritize features and align resources effectivelyCultivate a collaborative, innovative work environment, fostering continuous learning and upskilling in AI and NLP technologiesMentor team members, providing guidance on technical and professional growthEnsure AI solutions are developed and deployed in alignment with ethical standards, especially concerning the handling of sensitive healthcare dataMaintain compliance with healthcare regulations, ensuring that AI applications meet all necessary legal and ethical requirementsRequired travel to Chicago, IL office once per quarter Position Requires: A Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, or a closely related field of study, plus 5 years of experience in the job offered, or as a Software Developer, Software Engineer, or Machine Learning Engineer.Must have 3 years of experience in the following: NLP, AI, ML, or advanced data science Working in the healthcare or life sciences domain with a focus on NLP or Generative AI (GenAI) applications Developing distributed and scalable systems, with a focus on high-volume transaction applications Working in a leadership or technical SME role Working with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud, and infrastructure-as-code tools Working with network, system, and virtualization technologies Working in an Agile development environment, including close collaboration with cross-functional teamsMust have 2 years of: Hands-on experience with LLMs such as GPT, Claude, LLaMA, or similar models.Specific experience must also include: Leading and growing multidisciplinary teams by managing data scientists, software engineers, and researchers while fostering strong management practices, coaching, and mentoring to drive effective collaboration Developing AI and NLP solutions by applying machine learning algorithms, including classification, regression, clustering, model selection, and feature extraction, while utilizing NLP frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, and cloud-native AI/ML services Leveraging technical expertise in programming languages like Java, Python, and JavaScript to design, develop, and optimize scalable, high-quality AI and NLP systems Driving healthcare and pharmaceutical AI projects by delivering solutions for clinical trials, systematic literature reviews, and healthcare concept mapping, while ensuring compliance with HIPAA and other relevant regulations Working with the full software development life cycle (SDLC), such as planning, requirements analysis, design, development, testing, deployment, delivery, operations, and maintenance Developing best practices including coding standards, code reviews, version control, build processes, and testing workflowsRequired travel to Chicago, IL office once per quarter#LI-DNI Additional Information Full time position.
