Manager of Campus Accounting

Overview The Manager of Campus Accounting is responsible for overseeing centralized accounting functions across multiple campus locations, which include month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes; reviewing journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations; ensuring compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX); and managing special projects. Provides ad hoc and additional accounting-related support to campus locations as needed. Additionally, this role offers support to the Home Office Accounting Department. Performs and reviews account reconciliations for multiple campus locations Prepares financial analysis as required Serves as the primary point of contact for campus accounting support Performs system testing, spreadsheet testing, access reviews, etc. to support SOX compliance Leads process improvement initiatives as required. Temporarily backfills open campus accounting positions as needed Fosters open communication among all campuses. Establishes and maintains a high-performance team of professional, motivated, and engaged staff by utilizing effective training, performance management, and career development activities to achieve established business results and performance metrics. Other duties as assigned Qualifications Education / Experience Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required CPA or CMA strongly preferred 5-7 years of experience in accounting, public company experience preferred 1-2 years of public accounting or audit experience is preferred Skills Strong computer skills, prior experience with general ledger accounting systems and knowledge of personal computer software applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook. PeopleSoft experience a plus. Strong interpersonal communication skills both verbal and written including the ability to deal with a variety of personalities in a professional manner Working knowledge of GAAP & SOX Ability to influence without authority in a matrixed environment Excellent customer service, communication and organizational skills Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines Analytical skills required to identify and resolve problems effectively Work Environment Work is performed indoors in a climate-controlled environment Originally posted on Himalayas
