Apples Wallet, Payments and Commerce (WPC) organization is seeking a Machine Learning (ML) Manager to join our diverse and talented team that plays a crucial role in building some of the most impactful software products and services trusted by many millions of customers every day.

We are looking for a passionate and hands-on leader. You will need deep expertise in machine learning, proven software development skills, a love of learning, and a bias toward collaborating well in multi-disciplinary teams. You should exhibit strong communication and leadership skills, an ability to set priorities, and an execution focus in a complex, cross-functional environment.
Key responsibilities include:
Attract, hire, and inspire a diverse, world-class team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence.
Facilitate complex work across globally distributed teams and collaborate with cross-functional partners overseeing the development lifecycle from design through implementation as you help operationalize robust, scalable and efficient machine learning solutions.
Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies, industry trends, and advancements in ML practices to find opportunities for improvement and innovation.
Get into the details and lead technical discussions toward successful outcomes despite ambiguous requirements and multiple viewpoints.

Ability to actively participate in investigations into realtime and offline analysis, draw conclusions from data, and recommend actions.
Excellent leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to build and lead high-performing Machine Learning engineering teams.
Experience enabling large-scale, high throughput and distributed customer facing applications.
10+ years experience developing Machine Learning technologies with 5+ years of managing teams of Machine Learning Researchers and Engineers.
Extraordinary collaboration skills, excelling at high-level thinking and execution, pragmatically influencing and inspiring others to achieve ambitious goals.

Ph.D. or Masters in a quantitative field, such as Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or Statistics, or equivalent professional experience.
Prior experience developing and implementing modern Machine Learning techniques applied to consumer financial, identity or access products.
Track record of fighting for excellence, ensuring high quality work by empowering and influencing others to do their best work, sometimes pushing them further than they expected was possible.
Ability to focus and simplify. Demonstrate expertise in being able to distill complex, multifaceted problems into accessible, solvable actions.

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $252,400 and $378,700, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apples discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apples Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
