JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The Academic Support Center at Penn State Mont Alto is seeking applicants for a part-time professional STEM tutor.
The tutor will provide primary tutoring support for students in all levels of mathematics (i.e. intermediate algebra, calculus, matrices, differential equations, statistics, etc.)
This person will be responsible for one-on-one and small group tutoring with students on an appointment or drop-in basis for 10-15 hours per week (contingent on student demand). The ideal candidate should be team oriented, student-centered and have a strong understanding of working with a diverse student body.
This opening is available to work the 2023-2024 academic year.
Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelors degree in STEM related field.
Completed postsecondary coursework in calculus, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and statistics.
Experience teaching or tutoring mathematics.
Experience working with students from a variety of backgrounds.
Preferred qualifications:
Graduate coursework in a STEM-related field.
Completed postsecondary coursework in matrices and differential equations.
Completed postsecondary coursework in physics and chemistry.
Experience teaching or tutoring in higher education.
Experience with remote/virtual teaching or tutoring. Note: This position is not remote, however, they may work tutoring students in a remote atmosphere.
This is a part-time, wage payroll position, with up to 10-15 hours per week.
