JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Title: Paraprofessional - Regular Education - CLS
Location: Normal Community West High School
Department: Building Personnel
Reports to: Principal/Assistant Principal
FLSA Class: Non-Exempt
FTE: 1.0
SUMMARY This position works in the academic support center of the high school to help students, both in-person and virtual, to be successful. Paraprofessionals will work with the Interventionists to target the needs of each student that comes to the support center.
DUTIES * Communicate with referring teacher regarding support needed
Re-teaching of key concepts, vocabulary skills, etc. as indicated by classroom teacher in referral process.
Monitor re-assessment of concepts, skills, vocabulary, etc.
Supervision of independent student work.
Supervision of technology-based lessons being used as remediation/additional online learning opportunities/blended learning.
In coordination with Administration/Guidance, develop peer tutoring program.
Monitor attendance, behavior and academic success of students.
Collaborate with other student support staff
QUALIFICATIONS * Must have a registered license with the Regional Office of Education #17 at the time of hire.
Must have excellent Oral and Written communication skills to work with teachers, education support personnel, building administrators and the general public.
Enforce school regulations and policies in a professional manner.
Ability to maintain good working relationships with fellow employees and pupils.
Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
Requires employee to have the ability to push/pull up to 10 lbs.
Must be detailed oriented.
Compensation:
Fully Board Paid Medical, Dental, and Vision available
Per the 2023-2024 Teaching Assistant Salary Schedule, the starting pay range is $18.00-$20.16 and is based upon experience.
