Logic of English is hiring: Publishing Manager - Remote in Rochester

Logic of English is a growing educational publisher. We are looking for a Publishing Manager to develop new processes and grow a Publishing Team as we expand our product selection. The Publishing Manager will be responsible for overseeing the production and publishing of Logic of English products, including physical books, curriculum, manipulatives, and digital products. They will collaborate across departments to ensure that products meet brand and editorial standards, meet budgets and production timelines, and oversee the publishing process. This role lives on the Publishing Team within the Brand Department and reports to the Brand Director. This position includes a 90-day probationary period during which performance and suitability for the role will be evaluated. Job Description Publishing Responsibilities Plan and manage projects within the publishing team as assigned by the Brand Director. Manage physical, PDF, ePub, and MP3 products as they move from content development and instructional design through all the steps of the publishing process - coordinating editorial, design, illustration, and production schedules. Coordinate with the eLearning Manager as content is translated into physical, digital, and eLearning products. Develop budgets with Brand Director, manage communication, and negotiate contracts for third-party contractors such as illustrators, typesetters, editors, etc. With guidance from Brand Director, collaborate across departments for printing budgets, product sourcing, and printing timelines. Oversee sourcing and ongoing relationships with vendors. Develop quality checks for products - oversee, and enforce the process. Ensure physical and digital products comply with industry standards and regulations (example: WCAG accessibility standards). Oversee the registration of products with the Electronic Copyright Office and handle copyright and permissions issues. Oversee file creation, management, and archival processes. Develop and enforce brand and editorial guidelines and standards. Train and mentor Publishing Team members. Conduct weekly touchpoints with team members and lead their annual reviews. Lead and direct the work of Publishing Team members - taking responsibility for personnel actions, including hiring, performance management, and termination. Occasional travel may be required Qualifications & Skills Master's degree preferred in Publishing, Journalism, Communications, or a related field At least 5+ years of experience in a senior design, editorial or other publishing related role Strong project management and organizational skills Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines Exceptional written and verbal skills Experience with budget management and cost optimization Knowledge of copyright laws and intellectual property rights Strong attention to detail and quality control Excellent interpersonal and team collaboration skills in both an online and in-person setting Familiarity with desktop publishing software and design tools Sound knowledge of editorial processes and publishing standards Benefits Package Paid vacation time Paid sick time Nine paid company holidays Dental and Vision Insurance 401k Retirement Plan with employer matching program STD, LTD, and other supplemental Insurance options Professional education reimbursement Fully remote position Company-provided MacBook Culture that embraces a healthy work-life balance Apply tot his job
