The Loan Processor plays a key role in bringing consumer loans to life—reviewing applications, validating financial information, and helping clients move confidently through the lending process. This role sits at the intersection of risk assessment, accuracy, and customer experience, requiring both sharp attention to detail and thoughtful client engagement. Depending on experience, this position may focus on foundational processing or take on more advanced responsibility for independent analysis, underwriting decisions, and complex cases. How You'll Contribute: Loan Application Processing Reviewing client uploads (paystubs, tax returns, asset statements, identification documents, etc). Establishing client identity by verifying consistency between client submitted information and third-party data sources. Inputting qualifying information for accurate decision making. Proactively engaging clients through phone, booked calls, or email to support clients, providing the right details to clients reaching the point of decision. Special Projects Work Work with management to identify areas of opportunity to develop new procedures or policies. Prepare audit materials in support of other Earnest business units (Legal, Compliance and Risk). Identifies areas of opportunity for improved accuracy and/or efficiency of file preparation and review. Identify System Issues & Training Provide feedback on internal tooling and system issues identified during processing. Maintain up-to-date knowledge by attending training sessions and reviewing internal knowledge bases. Other duties as assigned. What We're Looking For: This role is open to junior and mid-level candidates; final level will be determined based on the selected candidate’s experience and qualifications. High School Diploma/ GED/ equivalent. experience in reviewing consumer credit applications (auto, credit card, student loan, personal loan etc.) Nice to Have: Experience with fraud detection, remediation, tools and systems. Knowledge of Fraud Factors. Experience in a production-based environment. Knowledge of loan servicing. Ability to efficiently evaluate multiple data points in an ambiguous environment. Advanced ability to perform mathematical calculations related to personal finance. Strong underwriting and financial analysis skills. Ability to read, interpret, and validate complex financial and identity documentation. Knowledge of consumer lending and associated financial and fraud risks. Strong verbal communication and client engagement skills. Strong written communication skills. Analytical and problem‑solving skills. Ability to effectively navigate multiple systems and tools.
