The ideal candidate is technically driven, detail-oriented, and capable of exercising independent judgment when diagnosing complex system issues and implementing scalable solutions.In this role, you will work across systems, applications, and networking layers to maintain secure, reliable environments, contribute to infrastructure upgrades, and support platform expansion. You’ll collaborate with engineering, operations, and data center teams while applying advanced Linux administration expertise to solve non-routine technical challenges. This is your opportunity to strengthen Vultr’s infrastructure and grow your systems engineering capabilities in a high-growth cloud environment.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, configure, and implement Linux system upgrades, enhancements, and infrastructure changes to support scalability and reliabilityAdminister and maintain Linux servers and services, applying systems analysis to diagnose and resolve complex performance, stability, or security issuesServe as a technical escalation point for Linux-related issues, analyzing root cause and determining appropriate remediation strategiesPartner with engineering and operations teams to design and support new data center deployments, including system configuration and application readinessPerform application and system migrations, evaluating dependencies, risks, and optimal execution approachesMonitor system performance and security posture, identifying risks and implementing corrective actions to maintain compliance with security standardsDevelop and maintain automation, scripts, and tooling to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual effortProduce and maintain technical documentation, system diagrams, and operational standards to support consistent administration and future scalingCollaborate cross-functionally to align systems administration efforts with platform reliability, scalability, and business objectivesQualificationsStrong proficiency administering Linux systems (CentOS, Debian, Ubuntu)Experience applying systems-level troubleshooting and analysis to resolve non-routine technical issuesFamiliarity with scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or similarExperience with virtualization, networking, or software development is a plusHands-on experience configuring and supporting:Web serversDatabases and caching solutionsFirewallsDemonstrated understanding of:Common Linux utilities and system toolingServer and application architecture, including security hardeningDistributed storage solutions (e.g., Ceph)Virtualization technologiesLoad balancing conceptsCore networking conceptsStrong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teamsCompensation$60,000 - $75,000Final compensation will vary depending on years of experience, background/skill set, location, and applicable laws.[We are currently only accepting applications from candidates residing in the following states: Alabama, Arizona, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, and Wisconsin.]Inclusion & PrivacyWe are an equal opportunity employer and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
