Legal Counsel - West

The Carpenters’ Regional Council (CRC) is a dynamic organization representing over 60,000 members across Canada. They are seeking a Legal Counsel to join their Western legal team, responsible for litigating matters, participating in collective bargaining, and advising union representatives on legal matters. Responsibilities Litigating matters before courts, labour relations boards, grievance arbitrators and other tribunals Participating in collective bargaining negotiations and enforcement Supporting organizing, jurisdictional, educational and regulatory efforts Advising CRC and Local Union representatives on a broad range of legal matters Liaising with external organizations including governments, industry partners and other trade unions Skills Members of the bar, or eligible for membership, in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and/or Manitoba Passionate about advancing the rights of working people Thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented legal environment Demonstrated an interest in labour law and advocacy for workers Sound judgment Excellent communication skills Commitment to union values Litigation and dispute resolution experience Experience in construction-related labour law Benefits Comprehensive health and welfare benefits plan Defined benefit pension plan 4 weeks/year vacation Other paid leave Company Overview The CRC is composed of 31 affiliated Local Unions of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America across Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, British Columbia, and Yukon.
