LEGAL ANALYST

The California Department of Justice is seeking a motivated Legal Analyst to join their Division of Medi-Cal Fraud and Elder Abuse. The role involves performing complex paralegal duties, assisting in the investigation and prosecution of fraud and neglect cases, and managing various legal documents and databases. Responsibilities Perform a wide variety of complex paralegal duties, including assisting Deputy Attorney Generals and Senior Legal Analysts in the investigation, filing, and prosecution of complex civil cases Manage, review, analyze, and evaluate documents and data Prepare discovery, subpoenas, witness lists, exhibit lists, and demonstrative evidence Coordinate witnesses Prepare correspondence with outside agencies and the public Create and maintain databases and libraries Perform factual and legal research Skills Ability to communicate and write effectively Organize voluminous documents and information Work professionally with attorneys, investigators, auditors, and retained experts Knowledge of civil procedure, California Rules of Court, and Local Rules, including applicable deadlines for motions, discovery, and other filings Knowledge of California Rules of Civil Procedure Accuracy and speed of written work Ability to work under short deadlines Experience in complex civil litigation, including management, analysis, and presentation of large numbers of documents and large amounts of data Experience in and aptitude for using databases and other relevant software for document and case management Positive attitude and excellent work ethic Ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure Attention to and appreciation for detail Self-starter willing and able to work independently Benefits Benefits Information - Please access this link for information on benefits afforded to employees who work for the State of California - Company Overview The mission of the Department of Justice (DOJ) is to uphold the rule of law, to keep our country safe, and to protect civil rights.
