Lead Software Development Engineer
The Lead Software Engineer is an advanced individual contributor role responsible for delivering high-quality, scalable software solutions and providing technical leadership within the team. This position sets engineering standards, leads complex projects, and contributes to product and technical roadmaps without direct people management responsibilities.
Job Responsibilities
ā¢ Design, build, and maintain RESTful web services and modern single-page applications.
ā¢ Develop scalable microservices on AWS that support LIMS workflows.
ā¢ Write clean, well-tested code following TDD practices.
ā¢ Participate in code and design reviews; give and receive constructive feedback.
ā¢ Work closely with product, QA, and other engineers in an Agile/Scrum team.
ā¢ Help improve coding standards, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps automation.
ā¢ Troubleshoot issues across the stack and support applications through their full lifecycle.
ā¢ Communicate progress, trade-offs, and technical decisions clearly to the team.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Information Technology.
5 or more years of experience in software engineering with progressive responsibility.
Strong hands-on experience with Java , Spring Boot, JPA/Hibernate, and Maven.
2 or more years building applications on AWS (Lambda, ECS, EC2, SQS, API Gateway) or equivalent in Azure/GCP.
Experience designing and working with SQL databases (PostgreSQL, Oracle).
Experience with REST APIs and microservices architecture.
Hands-on experience with unit testing using JUnit 5 and Mockito.
Familiarity with CI/CD tools ā Jenkins, Git, Maven/Gradle, SonarQube, Jira.
Working knowledge of application security (OAuth 2.0 / OpenID Connect, Spring Security).
Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with LIMS platforms (e.g., LabWare, LabVantage, STARLIMS, Thermo SampleManager) or other lab/scientific applications.
ā¢ AWS certification or deep production experience on AWS preferred.
ā¢ Familiarity with APM tools (AppDynamics, Dynatrace) and log platforms (Splunk, ELK, OpenSearch).
ā¢ Exposure and demonstrable experience with AI / LLM concepts, prompt engineering, or agentic coding tools.
