Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Animator to join our team at ESPN. As a Lead Animator, you will be responsible for interpreting project details and creative direction into visually compelling solutions through the creation of layouts and custom animations for short-form and long-form projects. You will work closely with a team of artists, designers, and producers to develop high-quality content that meets the highest standards of animation and visual effects. Key Responsibilities • Interpret project details and creative direction into visually compelling solutions through the creation of layouts and custom animations • Develop and implement animation styles, techniques, and processes to achieve project goals • Collaborate with artists, designers, and producers to ensure high-quality content and meet project deadlines • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior animators and assist with project planning and execution • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and developments in animation, visual effects, and related technologies • Work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with multiple projects and deadlines • Proactively develop individual programming and technical skills to stay current with industry developments • Adhere to time sheet and daily reporting requirements Essential Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in Animation, Fine Arts, or a related field • Advanced knowledge of After Effects, Media Encoder, Photoshop, Artist, and Film 4D • High-level proficiency in After Effects, including pre-planning and toolset knowledge • Experience with industry-standard computer processor/GPU render engines • Strong technical skills in animation, programming solutions, and production pipelines • Ability to work independently and as part of a team • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills • Online portfolio/demo reel required Preferred Qualifications • Experience in the animation or graphics creation industry as a hands-on artist • Interest in sports and experience with ESPN show bundle personalities • Knowledge of 3D animation, visual effects, and related technologies • Experience with Mixamo, Substance, Z-Brush, or other departmental software applications Skills and Competencies • Advanced knowledge of After Effects, Media Encoder, Photoshop, Artist, and Film 4D • High-level proficiency in After Effects, including pre-planning and toolset knowledge • Experience with industry-standard computer processor/GPU render engines • Strong technical skills in animation, programming solutions, and production pipelines • Ability to work independently and as part of a team • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At ESPN, we are committed to the growth and development of our employees.
