Career.zycto is seeking a dedicated and self-motivated Remote Language Localization Tester to join our growing team. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in the quality assurance process for a diverse range of software, applications, and games, guaranteeing linguistic accuracy, cultural appropriateness, and functional integrity in various target languages. As a Remote Language Localization Tester, you will be responsible for meticulously reviewing localized versions of our products, identifying and documenting any linguistic errors such as grammatical mistakes, typos, awkward phrasing, or mistranslations. Your work will extend beyond mere translation verification; you'll assess cultural relevance, ensuring that tone, context, and regional idioms are accurately reflected. Furthermore, you will play a crucial role in user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) testing, reporting on truncation issues, layout inconsistencies, and other display problems that arise from text expansion or contraction. This role requires exceptional organizational skills, a high degree of self-discipline, and the ability to work independently while maintaining close communication with project managers and development teams. You will be a vital link between our products and their international users, helping us deliver a seamless and engaging experience across all localized versions. Key Responsibilities • Perform comprehensive linguistic and functional testing of localized software, applications, and games. • Identify and accurately report all linguistic errors, including grammar, spelling, punctuation, syntax, and cultural inappropriateness. • Verify the accuracy of translated text against source content, ensuring correct terminology and style guides are followed. • Test for UI/UX issues such as text truncation, overlapping elements, incorrect character display, and overall layout integrity. • Document and track bugs/defects in a bug-tracking system, providing clear, concise, and reproducible steps. • Collaborate effectively with localization managers, project leads, and development teams to resolve identified issues. • Adhere strictly to project deadlines and quality standards, managing time efficiently in a remote setting. • Provide constructive feedback on translation quality and localized content to improve future iterations. • Stay updated on best practices in localization, linguistic quality assurance, and relevant industry trends. Required Skills • Native-level proficiency in at least one non-English language (e.g., French, Spanish, German, Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese) in addition to English. • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in both English and your native language(s). • Strong understanding of cultural nuances and regional differences relevant to your native language's market. • Proven experience with bug reporting tools (e.g., JIRA, Bugzilla, Azure DevOps). • Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to problem-solving. • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote work environment. • Familiarity with various software platforms, operating systems, and mobile devices. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or similar productivity tools. Preferred Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in Linguistics, Translation, Computer Science, or a related field. • Prior experience in localization testing, QA, or translation within the tech or gaming industry. • Familiarity with CAT tools (Computer-Assisted Translation) like SDL Trados, MemoQ, or Memsource. • Experience with different localization testing methodologies and quality metrics. • A passion for video games or interactive digital media. • Ability to test across multiple languages.
