Lab Assistant - Remote Laboratory Services
About the position Responsibilities • Assemble remote specimen collection kits. • Handle incoming calls from patients, external health organizations, and Mayo Allied Health staff. • Maintain supply inventory. • Stock and receive shipments. • Troubleshoot issues related to specimen collections. • Use various computer information systems. • Participate in continuous improvement activities. • Perform additional duties as assigned. Requirements • A high school diploma or equivalent is required. • Knowledge of laboratory functions and medical terminology. • 1-2 years of medical experience preferred but not required. • Previous experience or knowledge of computers and keyboarding. • Ability to accurately read specimen labels and work with numbers. • Organized and able to prioritize in a fast-paced environment. • Good human relations skills and effective communication skills. • Ability to work independently and in a team environment. • Ability to accommodate scheduling adjustments, off-shifts, holiday, and weekend work assignments. • Attention to detail and adherence to strict safety requirements. Nice-to-haves • Background in science. • Previous experience with telephone operations and other office equipment.
